Principal

 

Tony holds a Master of Commerce (with Distinction) specialising in Financial Planning. He also holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Diploma of Education.  He completed the Certificate of Superannuation Management through Macquarie University.  In addition he holds the designation of Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) through the Tax Institute of Australia.  This is a globally recognised designation as a mark of technical excellence and professional integrity in tax advice.  He has been a Justice of the Peace in NSW for over 30 years.

 

Tony also holds accredited specialist qualifications in self-managed super funds and aged care advice.  He is also a member of the St James Ethics Centre.

 

After completing his Bachelor of Economics at Sydney University Tony started working with BHP then had short stays with Target stores and the Treasury in Canberra.  He then returned to University to train as a teacher. 

 

After 14 years teaching in high schools and TAFE Tony started in the financial planning industry in 1987. He had a rapid rise in the industry holding the position of Head of Investment Research and Technical Strategy at two of Australia’s leading financial planning groups. 

 

He then joined St George Bank and was soon appointed Head of Financial Planning.  In January 2000 Tony accepted an invitation to join Tynan Mackenzie in a dual role as a financial adviser as well as Head of the firm’s Investment Committee and a member of its Technical Strategy Committee.

 

Tony is passionate about the need for quality financial advice and personalised ongoing service.  At Tynan Mackenzie he was Head of Client Service for NSW and worked with a team of Private Client Advisers who provided ongoing service to over 2000 clients.

 

Tony has a very strong background in tax, superannuation, estate planning, investment markets, financial strategies and portfolio construction.  During his studies for his Master of Commerce degree he won the University prize in 5 subjects... Estate Planning, Principles of Financial Planning, Taxation and Implications, Current Issues in Financial Planning and Planning for Retirement.

 

Outside the workplace Tony has a special interest in going on long walks in faraway places such as Borneo, Spain, Portugal and France. He has 3 times walked the Camino de Santiago in Spain.  With 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren he doesn’t have time for much else except keeping fit plus a bit of reading and the usual home handyman routine.

Investing should be more like watching paint dry or watching grass grow. If you want excitement, take $800 and go to Vegas.
